31st Oct Visit of the Relics of St Gerard Majella to St. John’s Cathedral,
Portsmouth PO1 3HG on Saturday 31 October.
There will be a Mass at 12.15pm, celebrated by Bishop Philip, with
the relics available for personal prayer from 11am. There will also
be an opportunity to receive a blessing with the relics after
Mass. St. Gerard is the patron saint of mothers, couples trying to
conceive, those seeking work and those wishing to make a good
confession. This is a wonderful opportunity to come and pray
with the relics of this much-loved saint and all are warmly
welcome.
1st Nov...3.00 pm.......Blessing of Graves at Catherington Cemetery . If anyone would
wish to have a specific grave, or buried ashes, blessed on this
occasion, could they let the organiser, Ian Hamill, know. There is
a signup sheet on the noticeboard in St Edmund's or his
personal contact details are 07734 235811 or
ihamill@hotmail.com. Information about the exact location of
the grave is particularly important if it has not been blessed in
previous years.
7th Nov 10.00 am....Women’s Retreat Day - Discernment at Our Lady Queen of the
..........................................Apostles, Bishop’s Waltham SO32 1DN. Led by Fr. Oliver Ezeani
with talks from Kerri Christopher, a Catholic writer, speaker, life
consultant and theology lecturer. This will be an opportunity to
reflect on how we can recognise God’s invitations, navigate life’s
choices with greater clarity and grow in freedom and purpose.

21st Nov 9.30 am....Lay Leaders Conference at the Solent Hotel Whiteley near
..........................................Southampton. Inspired by our ten-year Mission Plan, You Will Be
My Witnesses, the Lay Leaders Conference will take place on and
run from 9.00am to 3.30pm. It will offer an opportunity to share
experiences, explore fresh ideas and consider how clergy and
laity can work together to strengthen our parishes and bring
more people to know Jesus Christ. As we look to the future of our
Diocese, we want as many people as possible to be part of this
important conversation. Whether you are involved with liturgy,
catechesis, pastoral councils, outreach or any other aspect of
parish life, this conference is for you. There is no charge
for attending though you will need to register in advance.
29th Nov...2.30 pm...Excelsis Concert at Sacred Heart, Waterlooville. Tickets are
now on sale for the forthcoming Excelsis Concert at Sacred
Heart Church, taking place on followed by Afternoon Tea.
Featuring beautiful music from the Excelsis Choir, this promises
to be a wonderful afternoon while supporting parish
fundraising. Tickets: Adults £12.50 | Under 18s Free. Tickets are
available from the Parish Office.
5th Dec......2.00 pm....Christmas Afternoon Tea at St. Edmund’s Church. Come
along and enjoy some festive cheer and good company as we
celebrate the Christmas Season together! The afternoon tea is
free, although donations would be very welcome. All proceeds
will go towards putting together Christmas hampers for our
local foodbank, helping to bring a little extra joy to those in need
this Christmas. If you would like to come along, please contact

at St. Edmund’s. We look forward to sharing a lovely festive
afternoon with you!
